Best Books of 2016

In no particular order, I’ve come up with my favorite reads of 2016. I set myself of goal of 15 books to read in 2016, and I surpassed it with less than half the year to go. So then I felt guilty and changed my challenge to 28 books, which I also met!

Unaccustomed Earth and Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
Mischling by Affinity Konar
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom
Eve Luna by Isabel Allende

You can find the entire list of what I read at Goodreads, which helps me keep track and get recommendations. Keeping track this year of my reading also has made me realize I tend to read more books somewhere in the diagram.

Other reading challenges I’ve found include, Modern Mrs. Darcy’s and POPSUGAR. I think I’ll mix and match from both lists for my reading in 2017, but add some qualifications of my own. I want to read 32 books total, 11 must be by men, 3 must be non-fiction, 2 must be translated from another language into English, and 1 must be more than 500 pages long. I received quite a stack of books for Christmas so I think some titles will fit into multiple challenge categories.
